Creating preschool or any kid’s flyers can be fun because you have many elements and colours to play around with.
Before you design a flyer the first question you should ask yourself is: Who is the flyer for? This will guide all your colour and style choices.
Preschool flyers should be lively, vibrant and playful.
What colours to use for preschool flyers
When designing any kids-related flyers you need bold and vivid colours such as cyan, yellow, lime and deep pink.
You can combine two or more colours to create a playful feeling.
Here are some colour combinations to inspire
- Purple and lime
- Golden Yellow and deep pink
- Green and orange
- Green and yellow
- Purple and golden yellow
- Blue and orange

- Navy and cyan

Choose the Right Fonts
Fonts are critical to any design. A font can make a flyer look and feel professional or casual and playful.
For preschool and nursery designs use playful fonts such as handwritten fonts like Comic Sans, Sue Ellen Francisco and Cabin Sketch. You can also use bold fonts like Bowlby One, Lilita One and Luckiest Guy.
Don’t use too many fonts. Two or three fonts are enough—one for the headlines and the others for text.

Craft A Catchy Headline
What’s your story. What is it that you want people to see first. Are you enrolling students to your pre-school?, is the admission open?, or is it a kid event?. All these questions will help you write a catchy headline.
Headlines should be distinct from other elements. That means they should be big, bold or styled differently. The rest of the body text should have legible fonts that are easy to read. Most display fonts for headlines are less legible when applied to a block of text.

Use The Right Shapes
Different shapes create different feelings. For example, curved and rounded shapes are more playful and casual whereas angled shapes like triangles can create some sort of movement and intensity.
This is the reason triangles or angled shapes are placed on danger signs.
Use rounded and curved shapes like the purple flyer above when creating kids-related flyers as these look and feel more playful and fun.
Use Visually Captivating Pictures
Pictures can break or make a design. Use quality photos with good angles and exposure. My favourite photo angles are closeups and bird’s eye view.

There are plenty of quality stock photos from Unsplash and Pexels that you can use if you don’t have your unique photos. Flayaz design tool makes it easy to drop these photos onto your design

Add Visual interest
To eliminate “boredom” on your flyers try adding visual interests like patterns, clip arts and shapes. These elements must be placed prominently in areas of negative space (white space). You must place them such that they add interest and playfulness to the design.
Don’t overdo them otherwise, they may overpower the rest of the flyer.

Attention Grabbers
Attention grabbers are small bits of information that need attention apart from the headline. Take a look at this design. These elements must be styled differently from the others.

Finish With A Call To Action
Finally, what do you want people to do when they view your flyer? This can be “Call Now” or “Enroll Now”. These elements should also be distinct from the body. You can add buttons or make the font slightly bigger than the body text. Take note of the “Enroll Now” button on the flyer above
